iPad 2's A5 Processor Has 512MB LPDDR2 RAM?

The iPad 2's A5 processor reportedly has 512MB of RAM and uses LPDDR2 memory which is faster than the LPDDR1 RAM used in the first generation iPad, according to Korean semiconductor analyst Kakeun Lee.

AppleInsider reports that Lee made the statements when questioned about the new iPad on Twitter. The site also notes that analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of Concord Securities also told them that the RAM in the iPad 2 would run at a higher clock speed of 1,066MHz for greater memory bandwidth than the 800MHz memory in the iPhone 4.

Apple for some reason has refused to detail the amount of RAM in the device. Once its released on March 11th a teardown will reveal all its specifications.

Apple Releases iOS 4.3 for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, AppleTV

Apple has released iOS 4.3, its latest operating system update for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

This update contains new features and improvements, including the following:
● Personal Hotspot
- Share iPhone 4 cellular data connection with up to 5 devices (comination of up to 3 Wi-Fi, 3 Bluetooth, and 1 USB)
● iTunes Home Sharing
- Play music, movies and TV shows from a shared iTunes library on a Mac or PC (requires iTunes 10.2)
● New AirPlay Features
- Play videos from the Photos app including the Camera Roll album, iTunes previews, enabled third-party apps, and websites on Apple TV.
● Faster Safari Performance with Apple Nitro JavaScript engine
● HD Video Out using the Apple Digital AV Adapter
- View 720p HD videos from the Videos app, iPod app, Photos, YouTube, Safari, Keynote, and enabled third-party apps on an HDMI display

Leaked Photo of iPhone 5 Back Cover May Have Been Taken With an iPhone 5!
A recently leaked photo of the supposed iPhone 5 back cover may have actually been taken by an iPhone 5, according to some photoshop gurus at iFans.

The site noticed that in the image you can see a reflection of the device that shot the photo. When carefully analyzed you can see that the device not only has an Apple logo but also has its flash and camera module separated.

While this isn’t a completely conclusive photo, we do believe that the camera used to take the photo was a working, prototype iPhone 5. Whether by accident or not, the photo was posted on Sina (the Chinese version of Twitter), and was picked up from there. Nobody else seemed to notice the reflection on the backplate, except for a few of our commenters (I didn’t notice it myself when I posted on it). This type of faking would take a lot of skill, time, and precision; more, I would think, than a prank would be worth.

Google Announces Google Wallet


Google today unveiled Google Wallet an upcoming mobile app that will allows you to tap, pay, and save using your phone and near field communication (NFC).

Google Wallet is a key part of our ongoing effort to improve shopping for both businesses and consumers. It’s aimed at making it easier for you to pay for and save on the goods you want, while giving merchants more ways to offer coupons and loyalty programs to customers, as well as bridging the gap between online and offline commerce.

Because Google Wallet is a mobile app, it will do more than a regular wallet ever could. You'll be able to store your credit cards, offers, loyalty cards and gift cards, but without the bulk. When you tap to pay, your phone will also automatically redeem offers and earn loyalty points for you. Someday, even things like boarding passes, tickets, ID and keys could be stored in Google Wallet.

At first, Google Wallet will support both Citi MasterCard and a Google Prepaid Card, which you’ll be able to fund with almost any payment card. From the outset, you’ll be able to tap your phone to pay wherever MasterCard PayPass is accepted. Google Wallet will also sync your Google Offers, which you’ll be able to redeem via NFC at participating SingleTap merchants, or by showing the barcode as you check out. Many merchants are working to integrate their offers and loyalty programs with Google Wallet.

Google is currently field testing Google Wallet. Initially it will become available on the Nexus S 4G; however, Google plans on expanding support to more phones.
