Re: 1970 Colt 11-SS projects
well then the price comes into play......the first 3 colts(1100f) are about 1 hour from my house, they are in a huge hard with heaps of the older cars.
he wants $1000 each for them and they are stuffed, i can get one for around the $2000 mark that only needs new tyres and a tidy up. but i really just don't want mine to end up looking like the ones above, the project one has many signs of rust and if i leave it to long it will look like the above Colts MATT

Re: 1970 Colt 11-SS projects
wow, this one is even better than your lancer man, looks very well conserved, kinda´rusty in some parts, but still fixable
btw, they sell you those colts for $1000 each???? with that kind of money here in Guatemala, you can buy like 5 cars, course not in great shape, but really much better than those

Re: 1970 Colt 11-SS projects
for $1000 here you can get some decent cars, they are ruff round the edges but still go OK.
that guy charges you to have a look thru the yard on top. MATT |

well matt, i would send him an asskick if I were you (no offense if he is your friend) ´cause on top of being an asshole, he has no common sense. i mean, have you already offered him a lower price for those cars? I guess you have?! He is crazy Does he sell only some parts of the cars? or does he sell a lamp for $500? Well, if we find a car like yours here, we will let you know |

Re: 1970 Colt 11-SS projects
thanks chris_911 i was going to ask if anyone had in info or know of any parts over that way.
i am doing some history about the early Colts and would be nice to know where they were sold around the world, i have a few country's so far. how much they sold for new, my model was around $2200AUD. and the different models, from what i know we got no utes* or wagons, i want a ute to use for servicing the rally car at local events. as for the parts guy he is big $$$$$. he says it that price but they are going to the scraper next month so be quick......the scraper gives around $45 a ton. he has said this twice in the past 2 years. those 3 cars are different to mine, they have drum brakes up front and different master cylinders, doors, hatch and some other bits. i have offered him $500 to take them all but he wants $2500.......... That car beauty, very pretty unit, I recover a Colt Galant 1972 does already like about 6 years back. And contame you are going it to run you go to him to put again to Rally doing remenbransa of those glorious years.

Re: 1970 Colt 11-SS projects
that is the plan for him, these cars had some great results here in Australia in the late 60's early 70's. they even have Australian design input, the only thing they didn't change on the Colt was a 1500cc engine and a 5 speed box.
there is a rally on in November this year that is for the older cars, it is called the Alpine Rally( i will post a link when they put a site up MATT |

Re: 1970 Colt 11-SS projects
i thought i should do a little up date on the colt.
after having a good look at the cage and the rising cost to Rally in Australia i have decided to make it a road car again. i have made some repairs to the original driver seat and just need to re-cover both front seats. i have sourced the parts to re fit the back seats and cut the cage out, well the cage was very poorly welded in so it sort of just came out. i just need to learn how to drive a sewing machine so i can recover the front seat and find some carpet for the floor to finish the inside, then a re spray in Yellow for the out side i will get some more pic's up soon MATT |

Re: 1970 Colt 11-SS projects
here are some pic's
first the cage, most of the welds on it looked like this, it wouldn't have done much in a crash! repairs to the front seat base, new runners and a minor repair to the frame. rear seat mounts in place, and reapairs to the shell after cage removal and a test fit of the rear seat i am busy striping the cabin back to bare metal before a coat of POR15...........more pic's soon MATT |
